MOFAD is a unique place. It’s really a living, smelling, craving, tasty museum. The goal is to inspire public curiosity about food, what it means, and how it connects with the world around us. It’s part educational resource, part pop culture commentary. The museum currently operates MOFAD Lab, a 5,000-square-foot experimental space in Williamsburg, Brooklyn where Chow: Making the Chinese American Restaurant is currently on show. Chow is a show about the evolution of Chinese American restaurants. The cuisine and restaurant in America has a nearly 170-year history and sparking conversation around immigration, cultural identity, and what it means to be American. Chow features chef-designed tastings and a stunning collection of historical menus. Be sure to visit the museum BEFORE dinner. That way you’ll prime your appetite for what’s in store.
The theme of this outing is really unique spaces. Following MOFAD head over to Lilia. Your appetitte will hopefully have been awakedn and ready for a delicious experience. Lilia is all about wood fired seafood, hand crafted pastas, classic Italian cocktails all served in a very cool space. The restaurant is the product of Missy Robbins. She was the Executive Chef at Spiaggia in Chicago for about five year. She returned to New York to be the Executive Chef of A Voce Madison and A Voce Columbus. While there she maintained Michelin stars at both locations for the entirety of her tenure and also was honored to be one of Food and Wine Magazine’s Best New Chefs in 2010.Now in her own space where she is the head chef and owner she’s bringing her cooking chops and some downright delicious Italian to Williamsburg for your enjoyment.
