What locals are saying . . .

I fell in love with ceramic art through historical work. Looking at 5000 year old work is always refreshing and inspiring for me and the Brooklyn Museum happens to house a great collection from per-dynastic terra cotta figures to recent contemporary greats and important functional pieces.THINGS TO SEE Stop by THE DINNER PARTY BY JUDY CHICAGO, an important icon of 1970s feminist art and a milestone in twentieth-century art, is a permanent centerpiece on the 4th floor. The Dinner Party comprises thirty-nine place settings, each commemorating an important woman from history. The settings consist of embroidered runners, gold chalices and utensils, and china-painted porcelain plates. KOREAN CERAMIC ARTS Korean ceramics are among my favorites as they are seemingly simple but also expertly crafted. This vessel illustrates the revival of Goryeo-period celadon technology in the early Joseon dynasty. Once you’ve worked in ceramics for a while you have a newfound respect for this work made over 500 years ago!
