Manhattan-West VillageThis guide is a few of my families favorite spots in the West Village. I've raised my son in the area and we've enjoyed many weekends hopping between the store and these destinations. Enjoy!

The Whitney is a museum specializing in contemporary American art with a focus on living artists. Make sure to plan ahead- the museum is six floors so it might take some time getting through it!
It’s a great place to spend an afternoon with the family. The Whitney Family Programs offers a number of interactive tours, art making workshops, and events that encourage kids and adults to learn about art together. Children 18 and under enjoy free admission!
On Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 - 3pm the Museum also offers an Open Studio where families can make a fun art project inspired by works on display at the museum. It’s free with admission and your own art makes a pretty cool NYC souvenir
One of Ample Hills Creamery's newest locations is inside Bubby's at the Highline just down the street from the The Whitney Museum. It's a delicious spot to stop whether your with the kids or on your own. They have wacky flavors like Ooey Gooey Butter Cake and Mexican Hot Chocolate.
Teich Toys & Books was opened in 2014 by Allison Teich McGowan, a West Village resident. Teich specializes in low-tech, interactive toys and games such as board games, building toys, arts & crafts supplies, puzzles, DIY kits, science and magic kits. The selection is highly curated, chosen for it’s superb quality, attractive packaging, and fun factor.
Pier 51 Hudson River Park is on of my favorite playgrounds in the city. It’s right on the river, with spectacular views. The playground area has a soft surface and a cool water feature in the summer so its perfect for younger children. Older kids might enjoy walking or biking along the waterfront.
