I know, just ignore the name. Have you ever been in a situation where you’re at a loud bar trying to have a conversation but end up just nodding politely pretending you hear what the other person is saying? Welcome to the monk-themed Burp Castle, where the bartender as well as you, are allowed to gently “sush” the loud people (bear in mind they can also “sush” you); monastery-style. The noise level is kept at a minimum so you can actually hear each other talking while enjoying delicious craft beer!

A block away is Crif Dogs, a small hotdog joint with a large selection of signature hotdogs. I usually go for a bacon wrapped one which is covered with avocados. Definitely a fair price considering what you get- a delicious signature hotdog for about $6. You can also customize your own if you have specific preferences. The place is open until 4am so you can come back for more!

Inside Crif Dogs you’ll notice a red phone booth. Hmm that seems out of place, do they really think I need to make a phone call while eating a hotdog? Not exactly. You enter the phone booth and pick up the handset. One wall of the phone booth will open and ta-da! You’re in a hidden cocktail spot, or a “speakeasy”. It’s very small and doesn’t seat many, so it’s very intimate. If you want to be sure to get a spot you can make a reservation over the phone prior to your visit. If not, I recommend going to the phone booth first to check the wait time, and then eat the delicious hot dogs while you wait.
