Welcome to the WestVillage, where you’ll get a break from skyscrapers and traffic. West Village consists of charming cobblestone streets, townhouses and small parks on every corner. The village is also decorated with endless cafes and boutiques, making it an amazing area to spend a nice day in. I love going there because visually I see hints of Europe... but I still feel this undeniable New York City vibe.
Boucherie is a cute French restaurant and one of the best brunch spots in the city. Boucherie has three locations in Manhattan but the one featured in this guide is in the beautiful West Village. Their menu is filled with French delights. Is it weird that I go there for their Eggs Norwegian? I could have them for every meal of the day, they’re absolutely phenomenal! And if they nail a Norwegian themed dish, just imagine what their French dishes taste like. Their Beef Tartare is divine as well, if you prefer meat over fish! And most importantly- since it’s brunch time after all- their mimosas are the freshest I’ve had in the city.
After the delicious brunch you can walk 4 minutes to Grom, an amazing gelato place that serves top-quality Italian gelato. This company mixes its ingredients at their headquarters in Italy, and then the gelato production itself happens in each individual store. I go for their stracciatella and coffee gelato. You can walk around the village and enjoy it or you can walk back and sit down in one of the smallest parks in Manhattan called Minetta Triangle.
The Minetta Triangle is one of the smallest parks in Manhattan. There’s lots of trees and flowers and a small circular bluestone path that has several images of trout engraved in it. The park is named after an old brook that was nearby in the 1600's and was full of trout- hence the images. In the middle you’ll find a tree with a bench around it, it’s very romantic and a perfect place to sit and enjoy each other (and the gelato).
