Nomo Soho should be next on your NYC hit list. Nomo Soho stands for Nostalgic Modern and this perfectly encompasses the ambiance. It is a hotel and I have personally never stayed here, but have been lucky enough to dine for Brunch and for a friend’s birthday dinner. They like to describe NOMO Kitchen as “unforgettable dining in an unforgettable setting.” There is usually a DJ for weekend dinners and then usually a DJ during Brunch as well. This makes for a fun, upbeat atmosphere. The design of the place is modern and unique with a wall with graffiti hearts in all different colors. The ceiling is all windows, almost like a greenhouse, with elegant chandeliers hanging from it and with different plants scattered throughout the dining floor. If you enter through the backside then you will walk through this enchanted walkway that is lined with vines and plants with lights intertwined; it makes for a magical photo op that you would definitely post on your gram. The setting is not the only thing that’s unforgettable but the food is something special too. The first time I visited it was for my friend’s birthday. Their menu is constantly changing but I will share with you some of the mouth-watering staples. They describe their food as “farm-to-fork.” The menu is composed of four sections, “to share, market, entrees, and pasta.” The house made Focaccia with whipped ricotta is to die for because the bread is warm and soft. The local burrata as well with the sweet fig and balsamic makes for the perfect bite against the grilled bread. As you can see I love bread and cheese! From the market section I highly recommend the Brussel sprouts, the Tuscan kale, and the fingerling potatoes. For the entrees, you can’t go wrong with the half chicken with the sweet peppers, or the ora king salmon and the hanger steak. All the meats are perfectly cooked and are light but delectable. While I do enjoy a well-cooked piece of meat, nothing beats their pasta! Their cacio e pepe is famous and if you add the egg, it oozes and combines with the pepper and parmesan making it creamy and oh so! If you wanted a little something more plain and simple, you can’t go wrong with their rigatoni in a spicy tomato sauce. Another one of my favorites is their agnolotti with spinach and ricotta! To go with the dinner, they have perfectly crafted cocktails. My favorites being the Sonrisa (spicy twist on your usual margarita) or the sidecar. They also serve big punch bowls if you’re with a bigger party or you can select to do the bartenders choice and they will whip you up a unique drink. The second time I went to NoMo kitchen was for brunch and I am dying to go back. A couple highlights from their brunch menu would have to be the avocado toast (add a poached egg of course), the lemon ricotta pancakes or the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. They also have some of their dinner items like the Cacio e Pepe included on the brunch menu as well. Pair any of these with a bloody mary or a mimosa and you have the perfect start your weekend. If you're in lower Manhatten this spot is a must. It’s also perfect because after you stuff your face you can walk it off and go shopping in SoHo!
